MANTRAS - CYANOTYPE
I perceive nature as our driving force, looking to its aesthetics to approach this transformative energy as a whole.
In 2020, due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, unable to travel I started photographing macros of varieties of cacti and succulents that I had at home. Inspired by Goethe's theory that considered "floral organs as modified leaves", I challenged myself to create a system through variations of original organic forms. I then began to form digital compositions that allowed the configuration of “new species” and record these specimens through modern “naturaliums”, aesthetically based on scientific discoveries from the 18th and 19th centuries.
The Mantras Collection in Cyanotype was created this year, 2023, to pay homage to this art of botanical study, materializing through this historic photographic process, my "Collection of Invented Plants", all of them "digitally harvested” and printed in shades of blue.
Continuously drawing visual parallels between photographic processes over time, including the fragmentation present in the digital age of Glitch Art.
